Slice of Heaven Class

Fancy making a modern art quilt using Improv piecing and quilting techniques? well this is the class for you! Over 2 days you'll learn how to piece Improv style including an easy method of making inset circles/ovals, make inset strips, trellis piecing and more. You'll assemble your pieced components to make a single piece which will then be sliced into to create your own unique shape be it circle, oval or other organic shape.  Two modern methods of applique will be taught to attach this piece onto a background.  The second part of this class is where you learn how to come up with a quilt plan to add lots of juicy texture to this stunning piece of quilt art.

Kintsugi Art Quilt Class

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of making something broken beautiful. In this class we’re going to deliberately break our fabric by freehand cutting with curves and recreate your very own improv composition. On day one of this class, you will be constructing your Improv piecing and bias strips. Day two you will design a stitching plan to complete the other side of the half circles with stitch, using a mixture of straight line and/or free motion quilting. A unique modern method of raw edge applique will be taught to apply to your chosen background.  Suitable for confident beginners.

Upcycled Denim Jacket Class

Got a denim jacket languishing in your wardrobe?  Give it a makeover using Improv techniques to create your very own unique design and wear your stitched and quilted art on your sleeve! This class is a great opportunity to try your hand at Improvisational piecing on a small scale with strong impact to  create an upcycled garment without all the hassle of garment making. The techniques you'll learn in this class include Improv piecing, creating pattern pieces specifically for your garment, creating a quilt plan, quilting, how to create a facing and attaching your quilted designs to your garment.  
Suitable for confident beginners.

Quilted Hoodie Class

Make your very own nicely fitted quilted hoodie using a pattern crafted by the tutor. In the first part of this 2-day class I will teach how to fit your pattern and begin cutting and piecing. This quilted garment uses a QAYG method (so no quilting left at the end to do!) and in the second part of this class we will assemble the hoodie including learning how to make your own binding and attach a zip, other fastening methods will be discussed.

Wearable Sweatshirt  Class

In this Improv class you can either freehand cut curves into your fabrics and stitch them back together with slithers of fabric (example on left) or learn Improv with a ruler (example on right). The techniques you'll learn in this class include, freehand cutting with a rotary cutter, Improv piecing, cutting a circular pattern, creating a quilt plan, quilting, creating a facing and attaching your quilted design to your garment with bonus elbow patches.

Christmas Stocking Class

Have a day of creative fun making your very own Christmas stocking. Choose from either the Black Christmas Tree stocking kit or the Gold & Silver Stars kit (included in the kit is a prequilted Christmas stocking, paintbrush, embroidery floss, tape and cord). You'll learn how to paint fabric, hand stitch text and join all the components together with some machine stitching to finish off.

Pieces of Time Class

In this class you can finally use your treasured pieces of fabric to create a rich piece of textile art.  Working with a variety of materials you will learn numerous fabric manipulation techniques which include both machine and hand stitching, learn how to make handmade cord and make a quilt sandwich to place your precious handcrafted squares. Hand stitching knowledge helpful but not essential.
