Cherie loves to pass on her enjoyment of designing and stitching by teaching the skills she has learnt over the years with designs she has developed.

Cherie teaches throughout the year at a variety of places and welcomes enquiries from quilt guilds. Classes can also be held at her studio in a tranquil setting for groups of 4-8 people.

Class | Slice of Heaven

Make your very own Slice of Heaven using modern graphic fabrics.  On day one of this class, you will be creating a circle using a variety of Improv techniques.  This circle will be sliced in half and applied to your background using a one of two modern applique methods.  On day two you will complete the other side of the circle by developing a quilt plan and quilting using a mixture of straight line and free motion quilting.  Suitable for confident beginners.

Class | Kintsugi Class

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of making something broken beautiful. In this class we’re going to deliberately break our fabric by freehand cutting with curves and recreate your very own improv composition. On day one of this class, you will be constructing your Improv piecing and bias strips. Day two you will design a stitching plan to complete the other side of the half circles with stitch, using a mixture of straight line and/or free motion quilting. A unique modern method of raw edge applique will be taught to apply to your chosen background.  Suitable for confident beginners.

Class | Upcycled Denim Jacket

Got a denim jacket languishing in your wardrobe?  Give it a makeover using Improv techniques to create your very own unique design and wear your art on your sleeve! This class is a great opportunity to try your hand at Improvisational piecing on a small scale with strong impact. The techniques you'll learn in this class include Improv piecing, creating pattern pieces specifically for your garment, creating a quilt plan, quilting, how to create a facing and attaching your quilted designs to your garment.  
Suitable for confident beginners.

Class | Quilted Hoodie

Make your very own quilted hoodie. In the first session we will fit and start piecing using the method called quilt as you go QAYG.  In the final session we will assemble the hoodie including learning how to line your garment, make your own binding and attach a zip or other fastening. Dressmaking knowledge helpful but not essential.

Class | Pieces of Time

In this class you can finally use your treasured pieces of fabric to create a rich piece of textile art.  Working with a variety of materials you will learn numerous fabric manipulation techniques which include both machine and hand stitching. Hand stitching knowledge helpful but not essential.

*Cherie can send out notes on fabric dyeing prior to the class commencing as there is not sufficient time to dye fabrics during class.
